Prenatal Massage

Carrying a child is one of the most taxing things on your body.   Massage during pregnancy not only makes a woman feel pampered but offers undeniable physical benefits as well.  Massage can relieve fatigue, enhance sleep, and calm and active baby.  Massage is also a great way to relieve everyday tension and the general aches and pains your body is suffering.  It stimulates your lymphatic system, increasing immunity and the removal of excess toxins, while also stabilizing hormonal levels and balancing the glandular system.  During the entire term of the pregnancy, massage can stimulate blood flow, which may assist in the prevention of anemia.  An increase in muscle tone and flexibility will occur alleviating leg craps and muscle spasms.  Benefits of massage during pregnancy include:

First Trimester

  • Relieve headaches

  • Help with morning sickness

  • reduce fatigue

Second Trimester

  • Alleviate backaches

  • Relieve leg cramps

Third Trimester

  • Reduce swelling/edema

  • Relieve pain from varicosities and sciatica

  • Enhance sleep

  • Prepare pelvic muscles for birth process

While pregnancy massage can be performed side lying, Keri has a special massage table with a hole cut-out which gently supports your belly, allowing your back muscles to fully relax so you can get the maximum benefit from your massage.  At your request, Keri can also incorporate essential oils into the massage such as lavender oil to relieve nausea, headaches, and constipation.  Talk to Keri about other essential oils that can support a healthy pregnancy as well as specific oils to avoid.

Keri's is trained a certified to perform prenatal massages.  If you doctor has classified your pregnancy as "high risk", please speak with Keri to discuss possible risks.  She may want to reach out to your health care provider to ensure you get the best coordinated care possible.

TESTIMONIALS

"Keri took care of me with weekly 90-minute prenatal massage while I was on bed rest for 10 weeks. It helped immensely especially with circulation, the aches in my hips from all the side laying, and sciatica that developed toward the end. She really knows what she's doing and I always felt like a million bucks after. I also had her work on my husband with deep tissue massage. He likes firm touch and said that they were the best massages he has ever had. He is VERY picky and has been unsatisfied with previous deep tissue massages. Keri is very professional. When I was feeling talkative, we would socialize. She would send me emails on some of the topics discussed with other resources and even brought essential oils to try when I discovered the baby was breech. When I wasn't talkative, she worked quietly. We had our last pre-baby session this week. I'll be recovering for a while from the c-section, but I definitely will have her come back to work on my husband and myself once I'm healed up. I'm looking forward to it already".  -V.S.
